How to prepare for your Sound Bath experience

My Sound Bath experience is a form of breathwork, meditation and sound healing using my crystal alchemy bowls, ocean drum and chimes. The different frequencies and notes of the bowls I use create sounds and therapeutic vibrations which promote deep meditation, calm, relaxation and release tension. It is so important to prepare yourself for this beautifully transformative Sound Healing experience and I would always recommend the following.

  1. Dress for comfort and get cosy
You can take a Sound Bath lying down ( recommended) or seated. If you are having a virtual session a couch/ bed is also a gorgeous option. When dressing for a Sound bath think the more comfortable you are the better. I recommend leggings, sweat pants, yoga clothes, and a jumper. I always recommend layers like a scarf and a blanket as temperatures can rise and drop during the experience. A warm pair of socks is essential.

  2. Prepare your space

    Virtual Sound Bath
:  Set up you own Sound Bath space at home. Find a space in your home where you will not be disturbed ( if you have an electronic doorbell turn off the sound before your sound bath), I will often put a sign on my door at home, so no one in my home will disturb me during my session. Set up a space with candles, Palo Santo, incense or anything that you like to help you rest and relax. Get cosy and set up space on the floor, the bed or on the couch and gather a blanket,  an eye mask, and a small pillow to get as comfortable as possible. Have a glass of water and a journal ready for after your session. Headphones and a laptop are essential for a virtual Sound Bath session.

  3. In person Sound Bath: I love to feel cosy during a Sound Bath and I would recommend bringing your own mats, blankets, large scarf, thick socks, an eye mask, and a small pillow to get as comfortable as possible.  It is always best to be prepared for your own maximum comfort to get the most out of this experience. Make sure to give yourself a few minutes to lay down comfortably and that you have enough blankets to keep you warm. An eye mask will also help you go deep into meditation. I always love to bring crystals and gems for my Sound Bath experience.

  4. Clear your mind and create space for YOU
When we sign to a Sound Bath we can feel so many feelings like apprehension, nervousness, expectation and thoughts like what if I get emotional/ fall asleep/ I can’t switch off.  Do no worry, simply release any expectation or judgement and allow yourself to feel the beauty of a Sound Bath and surrender to it all.  Follow the sound and try to feel the vibrations and frequencies of the sound in your body, and everytime your mind wanders simply bring your attention back to the breath and the healing Sounds of the bowls. Allow your mind to move through the different brainwave states like the dreamy Theta and Delta brainwave states.

  5. Allow yourself to feel all the feels
Sound baths encourage you to drop into meditative brain waves, like delta and theta.  Deep meditation can bring up stuck emotions and sensations in the body. So, while your Sound healing visualisation and meditations often bring you into a dreamy state of bliss, they may also bring up feelings and emotions. You may feel tingles, heat, cold in areas, see beautiful colours and shapes, simply allow for the beauty of it all. Simply feel your way through it, knowing every feeling is ephemeral and emotions are energy in motion, and they will move through you and pass. This can create a beautiful feeling of space and release in the body and mind.

  6. Right before the session
I always recommend going to the toilet before your sound bath so you are not disturbed or you do not disturb others, especially if it is a shared Sound Bath experience. Please try to avoid caffeine up to three hours before the Sound Bath, as caffeine can be a little overstimulating when trying to relax .

Please put your phone on silent & do not disturb. If you feel congested bring a few tissues and if you know that you might snore please lie on your side.

*After the Soound Bath experience, please drink plenty of water and have a restful evening. Sound baths encourage healthy sleep patterns so take advantage of the brain waves you accessed and write down any of your dreams or thoughts that pop into your head. Look out for signs, synchronicities and your own observations as the magic of your experience unfolds over the days and weeks afterwards.
